-- Transportation. Most bamboo comes from the Asia Pacific region, especially China and Vietnam, which means that transporting it into the US requires a lot of fuel and energy.
-- How "green" is the finish? Some manufacturers use formaldehyde-based glues or inferior finishes with higher levels of VOCs.
-- Bamboo's age. Products (furniture, floors, accessories, etc) made from bamboo cut too young may wear out too quickly, warp or split (wasting your money and resources).
